Based on its successful experience in capacity building in Africa, AfWA has been mandated by the Global Water Operator Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA) in 2019 for the implementation of two (2) WOP in Malawi and Ethiopia with the Municipality of eThekwini of Durban as a mentor with financial support from the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).
As part of the activities of this SIP WOPs project, AfWA is organizing two training sessions on mentees' 3 key challenges. The main objectives of the training are to reinforcing the capacity of 20 staff on the 3 selected key challenges in order to allow them to address their Short-Term Sustainable improvement plan and also to implement the pilot project.
The training sessions of 10 staff per utility will be held from 21st to 24th September 2021 in Wolaita Sodo Ethiopia, on (i) Non-Revenue Water (ii) Operation and Maintenance (iii) Expanding Services to Poor Households Ethiopia,
and from 27th to 30th September 2021 in Blantyre, Malawi on (i) Non-Revenue Water, (ii) Billing and Revenue Collection, (iii) Customer service.
