19th Congress of the African Water Association (AfWA): Sanitation in the depth of the congress

After the 17th and the 18th congresses respectively held in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) 2014 and in Nairobi (Kenya) 2016 with more than 2000 delegates from around the world the 19th African Water Association International congress and exhibition will be held in Bamako, the capital city of MALI, from February 11th to 16th, 2018 under the theme: ACCELERATING THE ACCESS TO SANITATION AND WATER FOR ALL IN AFRICA AMIDST THE CHALLENGES OF CLIMATE CHANGE. A theme of current events that reflects the will of AfWA to go best with the international community in its fight against the climate change and which lies within the framework of reaching the Sustainable development Goals.

The congress agenda is composed of four different types of events which tackle critical problems relating to sanitation and water, namely: a symposium some technical sessions, seminars and side events. 3 other forums are also scheduled before the official opening ceremony, namely: the African Young Water Professionals to prove their commitment in the sector affairs, the African Women of the WASH sector Network to deal with Gender and Climate Change challenges, the African Mayors to speak out on the municipalities involvement for providing sanitation services and drinking water.

This important event of exchange of the WASH sector is also marked by an international exhibition gathering more than 100 companies, manufacturers of equipment and material related to water and sanitation industry, along with service providers of the sector, will take part.
