Called the Network of Professional Water and Environment Women of Cameroon, RAFPEEC held its first General Assembly on Wednesday, February 08, 2017 in Douala. During this constitutive general assembly, the women of the CDE, the CAMWATER and those of other institutions elected the members of the executive board. At the end of the Constitutive General Assembly, it was Géraldine Mpouma Logmo of the Camerounaise Des Eaux (CDE) that was brought to the presidency of the Network of Association of Professional Women of Water and Sanitation of Cameroon.
The new President of RAFPEEC has revealed her priorities, which include raising women's awareness of the sector in order to join the network, developing an action plan and launching the Network's activities. The Cameroonian network will have, among other objectives, the implementation of specific programs to improve access to water, sanitation and the environment; The promotion of gender within their organizations and the involvement of women in decision-making bodies in the water, sanitation and environment sectors in Cameroon, as well as building women's capacities in Water, sanitation and environment works.
Note that during the work of the 76th Scientific and Technical Council of AfWA, the President of RAFPEEC announced the creation of the network and took the opportunity to introduce the newly set up Executive Committee. The creation of a Cameroonian network is a response to one of the recommendations of the 18th Congress of the African Water Association held in Nairobi, Kenya in February 2016, namely to create in the member countries of the AfWA Committees or national networks of professional women in the Water, Sanitation and Environment sector.
