The first AfriAlliance Conference will be held from March 22 to 24, 2017 in South Africa. It is organized in parallel with the 2017 Congress of the Local Climate Solutions for Africa (LoCS4Africa).
These events are held at the Birchwood Hotel and the OR Tambo Conference Center, Municipality of Ekurhuleni, on the outskirts of Johannesburg, respectively. These two meetings will serve as a framework to introduce the AfriAlliance Action Groups and their areas of intervention, promote political initiatives, research, innovation and African capacity-building initiatives seeking bilateral partnerships with Europeans. They will also be an opportunity to provide input and proposals on the development of the activities of the AfriAlliance project.
AfriAlliance, the Innovation Alliance on Water and Climate between Africa and Europe, is a five-year project funded by the European Union's H2020 research and innovation program. It aims to improve African countries' preparedness for climate change issues by stimulating knowledge sharing and collaboration between African and European stakeholders.
