Professional Women in Water and Sanitation of Mali set up their Network

It's official! Professional women in Mali's water and sanitation sector have established their network. They organized that network on January 24, 2017 in the presence of many managers of water and sanitation utilities. Ms Konaré Kadiatou Malinké, Head of the SOMAGEP-SA Agency in Djélibougou, one of the municipalities of Bamako, the capital city, has become the President of this network, following a consensus, a decision approved when the Constituent General Assembly got trough.femm 2

By doing so, the network of the Malian Professional Women from the Water and sanitation sector has been set up according to the African Water Association’s guidelines, in view to encouraging the emergence of women's skills in the sector for better gender promotion. The women of this network, strongly represented at the official launching ceremony of the 19th Congress of the African Water Association, on Thursday, February 2, 2017, were congratulated by the Executive Director of AfWA.

Unveiling the main points of its action plan, the President of the Malian Network of Professional Women in Water and Sanitation (REMAFPEA) described a series of activities ranging from the introduction of this network to the line ministries, raising young girls' awareness on water and sanitation professions, and promoting more gender equality within their various organizations.
