COP 22: AfWA Raises The Awareness of the International Opinion on Water Problems in the Context of Climate Change

The African Water Association (AfWA) was very active during the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 22), held from November 7 to 18, 2016 in Marrakech, Morocco. This year, the theme of water was important in the activities of the COP and AfWA seized this opportunity to initiate a reflection on the issue of "Sustainable Management of Water Resources in the Context of Climate Change".

This theme was discussed on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, in a panel discussion organized by AfWA, in collaboration with the National Office for Electricity and Water (ONEE) of Morocco. Furthermore, exceptionally, the Executive Board of AfWA held its meeting on Thursday, November 10, 2016, on the sidelines of COP 22. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Ali FASSI FIHRI, CEO of ONEE and President of AfWA, was attended by two important personalities from the water sector, Mrs. Diane D’ARRAS, President of the International Water Association (IWA), and Mr. Mohamed El AZIZI, Director of the Water and Sanitation Department of the AfDB (OWAS).
