Opening STC work in Douala

The second 2015 meetings of AfWA’s Scientifc and Technical Council started with an AfWA Days on Monday, July 27th 2015 at the Douala Hôtel Sawa in Cameroon, on the following theme: “Water and quality and management of infrastructures for a better access to water and sanitation”. The agenda of the day included an opening ceremony presided over by the Cameroonian Minister for Water and Energy, Mr Basile ATANGANA KOUNA. After his opening speech, Minister ATANGANA went on to cut the symbolic ribbon of the Exhibition which included about fifteen companies. Then, a series of conferences made it possible to make a presentation of the Hydraulics Cartography in Cameroun, to mention the problems relating to co-operation, and to make a clarification regarding the projects and programs implemented or on financing standby within AfWA. Innovating product production companies could also address the whole of attending water and sanitation professionals and to present the progress made as regards innovating solutions.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the high level forum which proposed three sets of themes, namely: Leadership, Non-Revenue Water and Sanitation. These sets of themes were dealt with respectively by Mamadou Dia, Water and Sanitation Director of ERANOVE group and Executive President of AQUAFED, Dr. Rose Kaggwa from National Water of Uganda and BAMBA Aboubakar, ONAD Côte d’Ivoire Deputy Managing Director.
