The Executive Director of the African Water Association, accompanied by three of his collaborators, held a working session with some technical managers from the Office National de l’Eau Potable de Côte d’Ivoire (Côte d’Ivoire National Board for Drinking Water), for the implementation of an innovating management project regarding water demand.
This project was initiated in partnership with the Danish company ECOBETA which developed various technologies regarding particularly shower mechanisms, plumbing, and toilet flush for this project.During the meeting, a presentation on the characteristics of the product and an explanation of its mode of operation were carried out. ECOBETA toilet flushis advantageous in serving water according to the true needs of the users. It is different from the two button devices since it possesses a single button which flow depends on the type of exerted pressure. Thus, the meeting discussed the setting up of a work force, and the identification of the sites suitable to host the project.
The work group will include the personnel of ONEP, SODECI, ECOBETA Company and AfWA, in collaboration with the local committee of the African Young Water and Sanitation Professionals Program(AfYWSP). Coordination is ensured by ONEP. A representative of ECOBETA is expected in the 2nd fortnight of April in Abidjan, within the framework of this experimentation.
The Danish company ECOBETA, an affiliated member of AfWA, has already tested its device in several European countries where one could noticesome savings in consumption from 30 to 40%. With the contribution of the African Water Association, ECOBETA Company wishes to extend its activity towards the African markets.
