Sensitization against fraud and leaks: Douala's Young Water and Sanitation Professionals go door to door

As a prelude to the celebration of the World Water Day on March 22, the African Young Water and Sanitation Professionals of Cameroon (AYWSPC) organized on March 18, 2017 an awareness-raising campaign on fraud and water leaks on the distribution network in the Maetur Yassa neighborhood in Douala.

The aim of this door-to-door activity was to raise public awareness on the risks involved in fraud and to encourage households to subscribe to conventional connections/subscriptions while adopting citizen behaviors with regard to the facilities of CDE. This involves the protection of the equipment and the use of the call center to report any act of vandalism or breakage on the drinking water distribution network. The populations of the Maetur Yassa neighborhood appreciated this local communication effort, which has not only allowed them to get informed but also to report the difficulties they daily meet. AYWSPC is an association that gathers young people from CDE and CAMWATER. It is also open to students and young operators working in the Water and Sanitation sector.
