Communicators who are members of the African Water Association (AfWA) Task Force on Knowledge Management and Sharing will make available almost 30 project factsheets relating to the WASH sector. They consist of lessons learned from projects implemented and some in the closing phase. This list of knowledge products came from a reflection workshop organized on July 15-16, 2017 in Accra, Ghana. The meeting was attended by over 20 communicators from AfWA water and sanitation company members. At the opening of the exchange, the AfWA Executive Director Sylvain Usher reminded participants of the importance of knowledge sharing between companies to increase intellectual capital which will lead to performance improvements.
In 2015, the network of communicators constituting the focal points of the AfWA Task Force on Knowledge Management and Sharing was set up. AfWA wanted to support them to produce knowledge products (project factsheets, project reports, success stories, etc.) for feed the knowledge management platform. The platform is accessible for free online and publishes information that can improve the performance of professionals in the sector.
In addition to discussing the best approaches to developing a knowledge product using a factsheet template, these focal points of the AfWA Task Force on Knowledge Management and Sharing were trained to use a collaborative tool for editing a project that requires the input of multiple people. A training on the use of social networks and digital tools was also given to these communicators to improve their digital communication policy.
This workshop was a part of the AfriCap program’s capacity building activities for sector operators. This four-year program is financed by USAID-West Africa for USD 2 million.
