AfDB–AfWASA: Towards a Strategic Alliance to Transform Access to Water and Sanitation in Africa

At the headquarters of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Abidjan, a high-level meeting brought together the Executive Director of the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA), Mr. François Olivier Gosso, and the Director of the Water and Sanitation Department of the AfDB, Mr. Chirwa Johannes Mtchera, accompanied by their respective collaborators, Mr. Michel N’Guessan and Dr. Ousseynou Guène for the AfDB, and Dr. Siméon Kenfack for AfWASA.
This working session outlined the framework of an ambitious partnership built around two major priorities: the organization of AfWASA’s 23rd International Congress, to be held in Yaoundé in February 2026, and the design of a three-year joint program aimed at sustainably strengthening access to water and sanitation across the African continent.
