95th AfWASA Strategic and Technological Council | 21-24 July 2025 | Lilongwe, Malawi
From July 21 to 24, 2025, Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi, will host the 95th edition of the Strategic and Technical Council (STC) meeting of the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA). Organized under the auspices of the Lilongwe Water Board (LWB), this edition—held under the theme “Green Economy and Climate Resilience in Africa”—will bring together key African sector stakeholders for a major event of reflection, dialogue, and co-construction.

A broad range of participants will be mobilized: AfWASA members, policymakers, technical experts, researchers, donors, and development partners, with the goal of producing strong recommendations for the future of the WASH sector in Africa.

- Identify financing levers and implementation mechanisms for the green economy in water and sanitation services.
- Strengthen the resilience of WASH infrastructures in the face of climate change impacts.
- Showcase local innovations and sustainable approaches.
- Promote South-South exchanges and regional cooperation dynamics.
About the Strategic and Technical Council (STC)
The STC is AfWASA’s key technical advisory body responsible for formulating scientific and strategic recommendations to guide sector policies and programs in Africa. It brings together experts from AfWASA member utilities, operators, academics, and partner institutions.
The STC meetings are held two to three times a year and provide a unique framework for dialogue between science, policy, and practice around water and sanitation challenges across the continent.
