WATER SAFETY: Kampala will host the 3rd Conference
The Ugandan capital city Kampala will host the 3rd Conference on Water Safety from November 13th to 15th 2012. The objective of this Conference co-organized by the International Water Association (IWA) and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is to exchange experiences and share knowledge regarding the contribution of water safety plan to operators’ performance improvement, the prioritization of investments and protection of public health.

Some 300 participants are expected to exchange on the implementation of a water safety plan, risk assessment and risk management, the operation and maintenance of water provision systems, innovative policies and regulations for drinking water quality, water safety in informal settlements, etc

The theme of this Conference is “Improving service delivery and protecting public health”.
WATER QUALITY MONITORING: A Program launching workshop scheduled for November in Kampala
On November 12th, the Aquaya Institute will proceed on the launching of the Monitoring for Safe Water Program. This 3.7 million USD Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funded programme aims at supporting through a financial and technical assistance the African water operators as well as surveillance agencies for a better management regarding water quality test.

This programme is run in partnership with the International Water Association (IWA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Let’s remind that the Aquaya Institute Executive Director, Ranjiv Khush, carried out from last October 3rd to 09th a sensitizing tour in Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso for the adhesion of water utilities to this programme.

The Aquaya Institute was founded in 2005 by scientists intent on bridging the divide between academic research and field implementation of measures to expand access to safe drinking water in developing countries.
NETWORK : The EAYWP holds its 2nd Conference in December in Kigali

The East African Young Water Professionals (EAYWP) will organize from next December 9th to 11th in Kigali, the second edition of the water and sanitation sector related Young Professionals Conference.

The theme selected for this edition is “Water for the future: the contribution of the youth”.

Various sub-themes relating to sanitation and hygiene, climate change, integrated water resources management, water governance, finance and management, and youth empowerment and gender will make it possible for Young Professionals to exchange their experiences and think over the preservation of water resources.

This conference will take place under the auspices of the African Water Association (AfWA) and the International Water Association (IWA).
