STC MEETING: Kigali hosts the 2nd Meeting of the STC
|
The capital of Rwanda, Kigali, will host, from 15 to 17 July, the 2nd Meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the African Water Association (AfWA).
The meeting will focus on the scientific and technical organization of the 16th Congress scheduled for February 2012 in Marrakech, the review of the various activities lined up in the 2010-2012 Action Plan and the progress of activities of the African Water Academy and the WOP-Africa Programme.
The holding of this meeting in Kigali offers AfWA, as leader of a working group on commitment of policy-makers in the area of sanitation, an opportunity to participate in the 3rdedition of the African Conference on Hygiene and Sanitation (AfricaSan 3) scheduled for 19 to 21 July.

CORPORATE LIFE : SODECI pays homage to Georges Dauphin
|
Georges Dauphin, former Managing Director of Operations of the Société de distribution d’eau de la Côte d’Ivoire (SODECI), received on 17 June a deserved homage from the entire staff at a ceremony organized on the occasion of his retirement.
The speakers commended his great listening capacity, his strictness and social action, which enabled the staff to own houses.
Mr. Dauphin joined SODECI in November 1967 as Chief Accountant and rose through the ranks to complete a rich career of 44 years as General Manager of Operations.
The President of the Economic and Social Council, Marcel Zadi Kessy, former Chairman of the Board of Directors and Ahouné Firmin, current Chairman of this Board, were attended the ceremony to express their support for this collaborator, whose professionalism was exemplary.
Mr. Dauphin is an honorary member of the African Water Association (AfWA).

HASSAN II PRIZE FOR WATER: Call for candidatures launched
|
The Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the World Water Council (WWC) launched a call for candidatures for the 4th edition of the King Hassan II Great World Water Prize.The Prize, instituted in March 2000 in tribute to the late King Hassan II, aims at promoting awareness and reflection on the issue of water.
Endowed with an amount of one hundred thousand (100,000) US dollars, a certificate and a trophy, the Prize is awarded to an individual or moral entity that has made a significant contribution to the development and use of water resources in the scientific, economic, social, environmental, cultural, institutional or political sphere.The next award ceremony will take place in March 2012 in Marseille on the occasion of the 6th World Water Forum. The theme of the Prize is: “Cooperation and solidarity in the fields of management and development in water resources”. Candidates have up to 31 August to submit their complete application documents.
