The African Water Association (AfWA) has redesigned its website to meet the requirements of an interactive and dynamic communication. The new homepage designed with the Content Management Systems (CMS) technology offers an easy management of the texts or multimedia content and facilitates its update.The project was completed on 17 January, when the
www.afwa-hq.org site entirely redesigned with more user-friendly functionalities.

CAPACITY BUILDING: An information and training forum on reduction of water losses scheduled for 23 February in Ouagadougou
|
The Office national de l’eau et de l’assainissement du Burkina Faso (ONEA) is organizing, from 23 to 26 February, in collaboration with GTZ, VAG and UNWDPC, an information and training forum on reduction of water sources and intelligent management of pressures.About forty participants, drawn from water utilities in West Africa (policy makers and technical staff) and development cooperation agencies will, for four days, hold exchanges on the technical modus operandi for reducing water losses.
On the fringes of this forum, ONEA will officially launch the activities of its Centre des métiers de l’eau (CEMEAU).

CONFERENCE OF THE STC: First meeting of 2011 starts at the end of February in Douala

The Scientific and Technical Council (STC) will hold, from 28 February to 02 March in Douala, Cameroon, its first meeting for the year 2011.The agenda of the meeting includes exchanges on the organization of the 16th Congress in February 2012 in Marrakech, the signing of a partnership agreement with the Asociacion de fabricantes de Agua y Riego d’Espagne (AFRE) and evaluation of the implementation of the road map of the STC.

2012 CONGRESS: Call for papers

The Programme Committee of the 16th Congress in Marrakech, chaired by Dr Silver Mugisha, First President of the STC has invited policy makers, researchers, managers of water utilities and practitioners of the water and sanitation sector to produce pertinent papers on the theme and sub-themes of the said congress.
The main theme of this Congress is: “Collaborative mechanisms and innovations for sustainable development of water and sanitation sector in Africa”. The sub-themes are: “Water and sanitation systems operations and asset management”, “Financing of water and sanitation services “, “ Performance management”, “Institutional arrangements and capacity building” and “Water safety plan and water quality management”.
