Presentation of an Institutional Commemorative Gift to High-Level Authorities during the Official Opening Ceremony of the 23rd AfWASA International Congress and Exhibition
On the occasion of the official opening ceremony of the 23rd International Congress and Exhibition of the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA), held in Yaoundé from 9 to 13 February 2026, the Association proceeded with the solemn presentation of an institutional commemorative gift to the distinguished high-level personalities who honored this major continental event with their presence.
This symbolic gesture, embodying recognition and shared commitment, was extended to His Excellency the Minister of Water and Sanitation of Senegal; the Minister of Water and Energy of Cameroon; the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform of Cameroon; the Minister of Urban Development of Cameroon; His Excellency the Vice Minister in charge of Agriculture and Water Resources of Malawi; as well as the Director of Water Development and Sanitation of the African Development Bank.
Through this formal presentation, AfWASA expressed its profound gratitude to these authorities whose sustained commitment contributes significantly to the sustainable improvement of water and sanitation services across the African continent. The commemorative gift, specially designed to mark this 23rd edition, symbolizes unity of action, intergovernmental solidarity, and the collective determination to accelerate the implementation of concrete solutions for the benefit of our populations.
Beyond the symbolic gesture, this distinction reflects recognition of the strategic role played by governments and financial partners in the structural transformation of the sector, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and Africa’s ambitions regarding water security and universal access to sanitation.
Through this initiative, AfWASA reaffirms its position as a continental platform for dialogue, cooperation, and innovation, working alongside governments and institutions to make water and sanitation a central lever for development, stability, and human dignity in Africa.
