Maji Africa: AfWASA is preparing the 3rd edition of its webinar series to highlight research results in the water and sanitation sector.
As part of its mission to enhance knowledge and build capacity, the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA) is organizing the 3rd edition of its Maji Africa webinar series on July 16, 2025. The event aims to provide a platform for expression and visibility for researchers, young professionals and women in the water and sanitation sector across Africa.
For this edition, four papers will be presented, focusing on key themes based on local realities:
- Algeria: A study case on the impact of hospital wastewater from Tlemcen University Hospital Center on multi-drug-resistant bacteria
- Niger: an analysis of the characterization of water supply systems in the city of Niamey: Case study of Niamey III & IV municipal districts.
- Cameroon: A striking testimony on access to water for young girls living in a refugee camp in the far north of Cameroon (Minawao)
- Uganda: Innovative research into the performance and long-term stability of open air-burnt sorghum and wheat straw ashes in hardwater treatment
Through the Maji Africa series, AfWASA aims to create a space for technical and scientific dialogue, as well as a pan-African community for sharing knowledge on water, sanitation and hygiene issues.
The webinar has been designed for all players in the sector: professionals, decision-makers, researchers, students, NGOs and partner institutions.
